All lay and clergy women are invited to this retreat. Renew your spirit as we explore Living the Sacred  both a journey within and a journey reaching out.

Keynote Speaker-Rev. David Bard

The Rev. Dr. David A. Bard is an ordained United Methodist currently appointed as pastor of First United Methodist Church in Duluth. He has served congregations in Roseau on the lron Range and was, from 1998-2005, the Northwest District Superintendent for the Minnesota Conference of the UMC. He has served thechurch in many other capacities at a state, regional and national level. In 2004 and 2008 he was a candidate for bishop in The United Methodist Church.

Dr. Bard has a Ph.D. in Christian Ethics from Southern Methodist University. His dissertation examined Christian ethical reflection on political democracy. He also has a M.Div. from United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities and a B.A. from the University o  Minnesota, D uluth. He has taught courses at United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities and the College of St. Scholastica as an adjunct faculty member. In 2006, he was a presenter at the UMW School of Christian Mission, and led the sessions on "Shalom, Salaam, Peace."

David and his wife Julie both grew up in Duluth, and thus have returned home with his most recent pastoral appointment. They have three children ranging in age from 25 to 17. David enjoys reading writing, walking, biking, music, movies and spending time with his family. He is currently leading an interfaith book group in the Duluth area. The group is reading novels that have an interfaith and/or cross-cultural theme.
